I subscribed to many RSS feeds, but many of them are empty and won't update. The "RSS" icon is subdued/gray and when I scroll over it, it shows that it is empty. When I update the feeds it stays empty????

Can anyone help me with this?

I'm guessing, after Update, you saw a message saying that "X older articles were deleted and Y ignored due to limited storage".

At the moment, there is only a maximum of 64k of data available on the Blackberry for article storage.

In "Settings -> Download", you can change the following to limit the amount of data downloaded to squeeze more into that 64k space.

"Download max articles per feed" : make this 5 instead of 15

"Download max text per article" : make this 256 instead of 0

In the future, we're going to take advantage of Blackberry-specific API's that allow for using as much space as is available on the Blackberry for storage.

I do get the "X older articles were deleted and Y ignored due to limited storage" message after I update. I did as you said and that seemed to open more feeds. I still have a few that remain empty. Do you suggest I eliminate categories/feeds or can you tweak my settings further?

Can you go to "Settings -> Display -> Home view" and change this to "Articles" and then tell me the total # of articles you have at the top of the window (it should say something like 200 of 200)

It says 270 of 284 (I had to go to the store; did a little reading)!

So you have 284 articles which is a fair amount for the 64k of space.

I think the best option would be to either keep tweaking the parameters I spoke of previously or to remove some less important feeds.

OK, as far as tweaking, do I increase or decrease max articles per feed/max text per article?

I'm a brand new user. I imported a couple dozen feeds from an OPML file. That part worked OK, but I'm getting the same thing as reported earlier on this thread, but on my Treo 650. I have 1098 stories on a full list, so I guess there's a bigger allocation of space for this device. But I've still got several channels grayed out.

Is there a maximum limitation for space on this device too? I've got plenty of space to work with. Is there a way to configure this for more memory?

Thanks, and good product!

When you did the first Update, did you get to 100% complete or did you hit Stop? Did you get a message about articles being deleted to make room?

1098 stories should be doable on a Treo 650. Over 2000 at a time is pushing it too much.

Another possiblity is that your total free memory is fragmented between your internal non-volatile memory and your expansion card? There's no direct support in Java for specifying where the data is stored, so it likely goes to the internal storage. You might want free space here.

Thanks for the quick reply.

After reading your note that the Treo should be able to handle up to 2000 articles, I felt emboldened to try again with my existing setup. What I did was click "Restore Defaults". Once I reloaded everything from scratch, all my channels were lit up and working. Now that I've added a couple more feeds, I've got 1420 articles from my last sync.

This is a terrific program. What beats other Palm RSS readers is: 1) easy one-hand operation, and 2) a built-in seamless transition in an out of the browser when you want additional information from an RSS entry.

This is what Avantgo should have been. I'm glad you guys have done it right.

Well done, and thanks again!
