I have a Nokia 9500

Upon clicking the Freenews Icon numerous messages flash in the top right of the screen including...

"MIDP2.SystemAMS.Installer"
"MIDP2.SystemAMS.Life"
"ClearingHouse Thread"

Freenews doesn't load. On second attempt even the messages don't appear - until the next device reboot.

Any ideas ?

I've never encountered this problem before. Confused

Have you ever been able to run FreeNews on your 9500 or is this the first time?

Can you try installing Opera Mini and see if it works correctly?

This is a standard, baseline Java product that helps me know if the problem is with FreeNews or with something else.

Opera Mini does work - I did the following...

Uninstalled Opera
Uninstalled Freenews
Reinstalled Freenews
Freenews works :)

I'll reinstall Opera at some point to see whether it caused the 'corruption'.
