I have 2.2.5 (midp 2.0) running on an N95 and have found a few problems.

First, selecting Flight Mode does not disconnect the data connection, as evidenced by the GPRS icon still showing packet data connection. This has a knock on effect because of the second problem. When there is a data communication breakdown, ie signal loss or whatever, the program locks up on the current article being viewed. I am unable to close the program and have to switch off the phone.

Please can this be looked at urgently.
Thanks

Flight mode is needs to be turned on manually when you loose connectivity (on Blackberry it is automatic).

This is because Java doesn't give me APIs that allow me to find out or control the radio status.

When the phone locks up, does the menu still work at all? Can you switch tasks or does the entire phone do a hard lockup? Also, does it lockup every time or is it when you have a network operation in progress (like downloading a full story or updating), and you loose connectivity, that it hangs?

Hi

What I am trying to say is if I select Flight Mode manually from the Settings menu, it doesn't disconnect the connection. The connection remains active. However, the program will mark stories "for later" but still keep the connection active. If I then loose connection, the program hangs. If in a story at that time, the menu works, but only the story level menu, so there is no way of getting out of it. The back button doesn't work, and you are effectively locked in the story, not being able to go forward or back.

I can switch tasks but Freenews stays running, stuck in the one story. There is no way to "kill" it. Even running other apps to try and get the OS to close it due to memory shortage doesn't seem to work. I'm not sure, is it marked as a system app, because it won't close this way?

I've put together a test build. I'll send you a private message about it.

This has been confirmed as fixed in version 2.2.6:
